We are a small, agile team under Azure Compute organization that is responsible for delivering the Compute platform for Microsoft Azure. As a Software Development Engineer working in Windows Azure Operating System team, your mission will be to ensure Windows Azure platform is performing reliably, always available, consistent performance, can scale on-demand, and engineered to withstand the unparalleled computing demand from the customer workloads.

For this position, we are looking for a candidate with strong background in building and shipping System Software solutions . Experience in development and support of Windows kernel mode drivers, especially Windows Storage stack, is strongly preferred. Candidate will be working on Azure Compute's Storage Virtualization stack which today powers millions of customer VMs. This software stack is responsible for handling hundreds of trillions of IOs every day that are coming from Azure VMs. To support the exponential growth of Azure, we need to enhance the codebase in terms of new features for Azure Compute, continuous improvements in IO performance, latencies, reliability and predictability, improvements in QOS (Quality Of service), Telemetry and Diagnostics infrastructure, etc.

  • Requirements:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or related field/degree, and/or equivalent work experience.

  • 4+ years of experience in developing software.

  • Experience with operating systems, Linux.

  • Experience in Storage Stack is preferred

  • HyperV\Virtualization experience is a BIG plus.

  • Proficient in C/C++

  • Ability to handle periodic live service on-call responsibilities and work in dev-ops mode

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
