Microsoft Corporation Senior Service Engineer in Redmond, Washington
Microsoft’s “Xbox Product Services” group is looking to hire a Service Engineer as Chief Engineer for their services team.
The Chief Engineer will engage with multiple groups across Gaming/Team Xbox and is expected to communicate and execute with clarity and purpose while maintaining the highest level of quality and service. As a member of the team, responsibilities will include day-to-day technical operations, project management and installation/facility upgrades. The Chief Engineer will insure technical quality control for all projects related to publishing and the Gaming platforms.
The selected candidate will have excellent communication and teamwork skills. Be adept at all engineering aspects of facilities for studio, production, fiber SAN systems, IP video, high availability networking, LTO tape-based archiving systems, and video color science (color calibration and LUTs). Be current on technology and trends in emerging technology such as UHD, HDR, and VR. Able to solve complex problems calmly and efficiently.
7-10 years of experience as a service engineer in broadcast, commercial, and corporate media environments
7-10 years engineering support for live events and broadcast methods using streaming, fiber and satellite
Ability to communicate and interact effectively with diverse audiences across different teams.
Provide concise written procedural documentation of all system installations, maintenance, troubleshooting procedures, with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Visio.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
These skills are a plus:
Extensive knowledge of methods for capturing assets of multi-player game play from Dev./retail game consoles, and Dev. PC’s.
Extensive knowledge for Prop. Dev. builds for Xbox game consoles, and Dev. PC systems.
7-10 years of experience in design, installation, and maintenance of fiber SAN systems, and SAN management tools.
Extensive knowledge of production applications, Adobe Creative Cloud, 3D applications, and render farms.
Extensive working knowledge of closed captioning methods and procedures.
Extensive working knowledge/experience with high availability networking requirements for video production environment.
Knowledge and experience working with IP video, sub-second latency, and FTL.
Ability to research equipment that complements existing equipment enhances capabilities and drives efficiencies.
Extensive knowledge working with broadcast hardware, software manufacturers, to provide guidance for leading edge support for future technological requirements forMicrosoft Gaming’s “Xbox Products Services” Group
