Microsoft Corporation Online Retail Direct Supply Manager - Global Supply Chain in Redmond, Washington

Microsoft Direct to Consumer Channel is growing and we need experienced supply chain professionals to join our team! The supply chain team supporting our retail and online stores have the ability to directly impact and improve customer experiences and act as the voice of the customer.

In overseeing and managing the Supply Chain relationship with Stores, the Direct Supply Manager role is pivotal to achieving optimal business results, ensuring the right product gets to the right place at the right time, with maximum efficiency and optimal cost. This role bridges the ideal customer experience with the most optimal end-to-end supply chain solutions, working collaboratively with supply/demand planning, merchandising, logistics, fulfilment and finance teams.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate proven skills in managing internal and external relationships, have a solid acumen for Supply Chain, business process and performance management and demonstrate deep experience in running an end-to-end supply chain. Strong verbal and written communication skills, leadership and analytical thinking are also necessary to have the right level of impact and influence. Global experience is a plus. This role must adopt a strong informal leadership position to represent the Supply Chain organization, both internally and externally, and to independently self-drive and lead cross-functional teams to solve complex business challenges.


On a day to day basis, this position will:

  • Oversee the launch of all new products sold at Microsoft online stores, including lifecycle inventory planning, deployment strategies and channel fill.

  • Responsible for the 1st and 3rd Party product end to end supply chain from launch to return/liquidation and end of life.

  • Focus on response management with key stakeholders e.g. Supply Planning, Merchandising, Order Fulfilment, Freight and Logistics, etc for timely resolution of issues/queries.

  • Oversee inventory return management activities, actively reviewing returns inventory and managing timely inventory disposition to maximize return

  • Operational management of on-site vendors who provide day to day operational and business support. Ensure performance is being delivered as expected and implement a collaborative approach to improve process efficiency

  • Drive optimal fill rate and inventory weeks of supply to maximize revenue opportunities, ensure on-shelf presence and mitigate returns exposure

  • Challenge the status quo and adopt a growth mindset - how can Microsoft more optimally service our customers? What are the retailer’s strategies and how can Supply Chain enable these strategies to drive win/win business solutions? How can Microsoft leverage analytics, customer feedback and BI to drive better upstream decision making and shared value?


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4 to 7+ years retail/ecommerce inventory management experience with a national retail chain/ecommerce provider, or with a supplier providing products to national retail chains or equivalent experience. Appropriate educational qualifications may be substituted for years of experience (e.g. MBA / Master’s degree)

  • Supply chain experience, preferably in retail planning (demand/supply) or in an inventory management role with a proven track record for improving inventory productivity and revenue opportunities across all stages of the product lifecycle. Ecommerce experience will be considered favorably

  • Leadership with complex, cross functional projects including setting scope, reaching consensus, execution, and presenting results

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Data-oriented, analytical and detail oriented, yet balanced with an ability to be able to step back from the data to draw out the right business conclusions
