Microsoft Corporation Business Planning Lead in Issaquah, Washington

The CSS Operations and Delivery Excellence team is looking for someone who is passionate about building and designing planning processes to enable CSS business success. This new role will focus on defining the business planning processes and rhythms, monitor performance, collect feedback and identify improvements to CSS planning activities.

This role focuses on the following high impact areas:  

  • Build a world-class business planning function for CSS. Define world-class business planning processes, related to capacity planning, and performance management, to enable CSS business success. Monitor adherence to standards of business planning excellence and enforce as needed

  • Planning / forecast process & rhythm - Define a planning / forecast process and rhythm to help inform the activities of the Global Planning Operations (GPO) team (demand model design, demand forecast and aggregation, and consolidation of inputs) and requirements and reporting rhythm for Business Operations Managers (BOMs).

  • Success Measurements include:

  • Strong positive feedback from the CSS Leadership Team, peers and stakeholders

  • General improvement across scorecard & KPIs

  • Consistent and thorough measurement of planning performance (e.g., scorecard & KPIs) and general improvement against those metrics

  • Clear awareness amongst planning teams of business planning standards and best practices; clear process for identifying and mitigating instances where business planning standards fall below quality standards and best practices

Basic Qualifications:

• 10+ years’ hand on / management experience in creating, defining and rolling out processes at scale

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

• Strong experience in strategic planning and building business planning process(es)

• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, as well as visualization tools (familiarity with Power BI preferred)

• Exceptional problem solving, leveraging both business and technical acumen skills

• Good written and verbal communication and presentation skills

• Be self-driven, and show ability to deliver on ambiguous projects

• Ability to work in a team environment that promotes collaboration
