Daily Schedule: 8am - 5:30pm

Weekends Required: Every Other

Job Summary:

This job is responsible for transporting patient and equipment between departments/locations. Provides with basic aspects of patient care, patient mobility and maintenance of equipment under the direction of a Registered Nurse in a defined care team. Contributes to the delivery of patient focused care.

Essential Duties:

  • Assists with cleaning of equipment and maintenance of department; may exchange oxygen tanks and/or attach IV’s to wheelchairs or gurneys as necessary.

  • Escorts patient at the time of discharge from their room to personal transportation.

  • Maintains a safe work and patient environment, adhering to the hospital’s Safety, Risk Management, Regulatory Standards and infection prevention.

  • Provide Client and Patient Relations.

  • Performs basic life support, gives assistance to medical staff during emergencies, and may respond to hospitals codes.

  • Performs basic patient care activities, based on skill, ability and limitations of scope of practice, as directed by management and/or nursing staff.

  • Transports patients to and from nursing units and ancillary departments in a manner conducive to patient safety and comfort, including special needs.



One year recent work-related work experience, preferably in a hospital setting, preferred.


Current AHA BLS for Healthcare Provider certification.

Additional Requirements:

Candidates will need to demonstrate their ability to meet these requirements by:

  • Safely lifting and lowering 60 pounds from the floor to their waist 3 times in 15 minutes

  • Roll/turn and scoot a 200 pound dummy with assistance in a bed 10 times

  • Push/pull 100 pounds; roll/turn/scoot 200 pound dummy with assistance

  • Safely reach shoulder height with 8 pounds 3 times in 10 minutes

  • Push/pull 25 pounds of force 15 feet 10 times in 5 minutes
