Seattle Children's Hospital Drama/Improv Instructor for Special populations in Bothell, Washington
Lead instruction of recreational classes and activities to adults (age 18 and older) with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and other developmental, behavior and emotional challenges. Classes and activities are ran through an Adult Life Skills Center and work towards promoting independence, teaching life skills, providing opportunities for socialization and enhancing quality of life for participants. Duties include; collaborating to create classroom curriculum, preparing lesson plans, providing thoughtful instruction directly to students in classroom and community-based setting, provide directives to classroom assistants, monitor participants progress. Work closely with Program Manager and Area Leader to implement feedback to adhere to mission and core values of programming. Implement behavior strategies as put forth by behavior team and monitor efficacy of plans.
Instruction may take place in a classroom setting, or in a community-based format, and will be working with small groups or individually as needed with adult participants. Strong leadership qualities, and desire to creatively provide instruction are essential to this position.
Bachelors Degree in a related field.
1 year experience providing classroom instruction, running small group sessions or camps and recreational activities.
Experience adapting drama courses or teaching for Special Populations
1 year teaching Drama courses for students
Youth/Adult Community Theater Experience
Bachelor of Arts – Theatre and Musical Theatre
Master of Arts – Educational Theatre for Colleges and Communities
