IHS Markit Business Insights Developer in Bellevue, Washington

The Rootmetrics, IHS Markit Technology Analytics and Products Solutions team is looking for a Business Insights Developer to join us in creating innovative products for our customers. As a Business Insights Developer you will be working with product managers, data scientists, and data/software engineers to understand customer needs, help create product requirements, work with data scientists to formulate data analytics solutions, and work with engineering teams to bring solutions to production.

Specific Job Duties:

  • Demonstrate initiative and persistence in assessing the needs of internal/external customers and building solutions to address those needs

  • Assess long-term impacts of a solution, create a phased approach to balance short-term and long-term needs

  • Exhibit good design principles, with attention to the scalability and flexibility of the solution

  • Create and maintain concise documentation of products, tools, and solutions

  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative environment of continual learning and creative problem solving

  • For products involving data and analytics capabilities, contribute to the development of product requirements based on high-level product strategy

  • Create data visualization specifications (data sources, aggregation logic, graph type, etc.) for Engineers to implement

  • Know what customers need to understand from data and work with Product Managers and UX experts to create products that effectively bring out this meaning

Required Education:

Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in any Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics field or equivalent experience.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to identify customer needs and ensure solutions developed meet those needs

  • Solid SQL and programming skills in R or Python

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical abilities, especially under ambiguous conditions

  • Strong data analytics skills

  • Familiarity with the software development process

  • Familiarity with data visualization design principles

  • Familiarity with web application design
